Hacienda Petac

Hacienda Petac

Description

The owners of this gracious, 17th-century, Spanish colonial estate have restored it exquisitely, respecting its historical and cultural legacy. The original, exterior walls have been painstakingly preserved and the interiors in peach, terra cotta and cornflower blue recall its 400-year-old splendor. Colonial antiques and custom designed furnishings add authentic charm and warmth. The sweet and attentive Mayan staff add to the feeling of a luxurious, private home.

Hacienda Petac rests on 250 private acres in an ecological reserve just outside the little village of Petac. The estate features lush, tropical gardens, lawns with sculptures, fountains, waterfalls, a beautiful swimming pool and free standing spa. The Hacienda accommodates up to 14 guests in seven spacious en-suite bedrooms located in four buildings surrounding the main house. This is a perfect place to enjoy an authentic Mayan and Mexican experience in a stylish, home-like setting. All rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans as well large windows for those guests who prefer abundant natural breezes. Each room has soaring ceilings and beautiful native stone bathrooms with separate shower and tub.

The kitchen is the heart of Hacienda Petac. Enticing aromas drift through the Hacienda all day long, and guests wander in and out of the kitchen as if at home -- to visit, to watch, or to nibble. Meals are served family-style at the dining room’s timeworn table or in other charming locations throughout the hacienda. Menus are planned according to guests’ food preferences and feature a variety of Yucatecan specialties – a delicious and distinctive fusion of Mayan, Spanish and Cuban influences. In 2014, the owners built a professional teaching kitchen where guests learn how to make Yucatecan dishes. This is open to all guests for cooking demonstrations or classes. The hacienda also has culinary adventure programs.

Extending Hacienda Petac’s focus on fully customized services, the Na’a Maya Spa offers a broad range of signature treatments incorporating traditional elements with innovative applications. Regional customs have been honored, using local materials and craftsmen to create a comfortable but luxurious space for exercise and spa therapy. Soaring high above the mint-infused massage tables, the graceful palapa roofs have been meticulously threaded by hand, a method used for centuries. Guests can design their own spa menu by choosing either classic massage, facial, reflexology options, or, Mayan healing treatments using native herbs, aromatic flowers, clay, or a touch of local honey to smooth skin and calm aching muscles. Also available are revitalizing water therapies that include hydro massage, Jacuzzi, and a refreshing wall of cold cascading water. A nail and pedicure area and a well-equipped personal gym are also offered. “We are committed to bringing our guests the options that are normally found in grand class resorts, but missing in a villa rental,” says General Manager Colleen Leonard. “Our attention to detail rivals any premium hotel chain. The difference is that our services are devoted to 14, not 100+.”

For guests who wish to explore the diverse attractions of this region, the beaches and villages on the northern Gulf Coast of the Yucatan are available to visit as are several of the world’s finest Mayan archaeological sites. Many guests enjoy day trips exploring the world-renowned Mayan archaeological site of Uxmal and the many cenotes located nearby. Mayan villages and the colonial cities of Ticul and Izamal are also attractive diversions, as well as visits to nature reserves, including Celestun, a flamingo sanctuary on the Gulf Coast, and the vibrant capital city of Merida. The Hacienda offers many on-site activities, a media room, a game room, lawn games, cooking and mixology classes, Pinata making and scavenger hunts for children.

Hacienda Petac is approximately 30 minutes from the Merida International Airport, which has direct flights from Miami, Houston, and Mexico City. From Cancun, the Hacienda is half an hour by plane or a three-hour drive. One round trip transfer, to and from the Merida Airport are provided for up to 10 guests.
